The City of Blakely has the only full time animal shelter in the surrounding cities. The function of the animal shelter is to collect stray animals within the city limits, and maintain the cleanliness of the city streets by disposing of any dead animals.
The City actively promotes the adoption of the animals without owners for a small fee of $50.00. This fee includes having the animal spayed or neutered along with up to date rabies shots.
If your pet is missing or if you need assistance with a nuisance or dead animal, call the shelter at 229-724-7474. Normal business hours are 8:00 to 5:00 Monday thru Thursday and 8:00 to 2:30 on Friday. In the event the animal control staff is out on a call there is an answering machine for you to leave your name, number and a brief message. After normal business hours call the Blakely Fire Department at 229-723-5150 or the Sheriff’s Office at 229-723-3577.
The City sincerely appreciates your efforts to help maintain the pet population by having your animals spayed or neutered.
